Welcome to the AI Industry Report, the daily brief built by AI, about AI, from the Agentic Marketing Academy. It’s Sunday, July 5th. Four stories today, a quiet holiday weekend, one big number you need to hear, and one thing you can do before lunch that takes ten minutes. Let’s go.
Okay, the big one first. A study slipped out right before the holiday, and honestly, it might be the most important number we’ve shared all month. Similarweb tracked real people, actual click data, not a survey. And here’s what they found: when ChatGPT recommends a specific brand, people are two and a half times more likely to visit that brand’s website within a week. Two and a half times, compared to the competitor sitting right next to them.
But here’s the kicker, and this is the part nobody’s talking about. Over half of those visits came in through search. Think about what that means. The customer made up their mind inside ChatGPT, then typed the business name into Google. So when the owner opens their analytics, what do they see? Google traffic. The AI never gets credit. Your analytics are hiding the most important thing happening to your business.
And these visitors show up pre sold. Twelve pages viewed, almost twelve minutes on site, roughly double everybody else. That’s what being the recommended business looks like in real numbers. Next up, and if you run any ads at all, you want to hear this. On June 30th, TikTok launched something called Agentic Hub. Think of it as an app store, except the customer isn’t you. It’s your AI agent. It’s a marketplace of ready made AI Skills that can build TikTok campaigns, generate creative, and dig through your performance data. No coding, no technical setup. HubSpot, Wix, and Constant Contact already have Skills in there. Why does that matter? Because if you’re an owner with no ads team, this is where everything is heading. You supervise the work instead of doing all of it. My advice? Start with a reporting Skill. Let an agent read your numbers before you let one touch your budget. Now, remember the vanishing Google reviews story from yesterday? There’s news. Google didn’t just confirm it’s investigating. It has paused new reviews on local listings entirely while it checks its spam systems. So if you asked a happy customer for a review this week and nothing showed up, that’s Google, not them. Don’t panic, don’t rebuild your listing. Keep asking, and expect a delay. Source: Search Engine Land, July 3rd.
Quick one, but check this Monday. The page indexing report in Google Search Console is finally fixed after being stuck for over three weeks. If you looked at indexing numbers any time in the past month, you were looking at stale data. Recheck before you diagnose anything.
And today’s rumor watch? Quiet. No new rumors, and the three we’re tracking, including that Google Business Profile AI messaging button, haven’t resolved yet. When they do, you’ll hear it here first.
So here’s your one thing for today, and it takes ten minutes. Open ChatGPT and ask it the exact question your customer would ask. Best, whatever you do, in, wherever you are. If your business is in the answer, screenshot it. If your competitor is in there and you’re not, you just found out where that two and a half times advantage is going. That’s your homework and your roadmap.
