Welcome to the AI Industry Report, the daily brief built by AI, about AI, from the Agentic Marketing Academy. It’s Thursday, August 27th. Four stories today, and the first one means the company behind Claude just told investors its opportunity is bigger than SpaceX’s, while its actual revenue already doubled to eleven billion dollars in three months. Let’s go.
Anthropic’s revenue hit eleven point six billion dollars in the second quarter, more than double where it stood at the start of the year. The Wall Street Journal reports the company is now telling IPO investors its total opportunity tops thirty trillion dollars, based on every task AI models could eventually handle. That number would beat the twenty eight and a half trillion dollar estimate SpaceX gave its own investors. The IPO itself is expected sometime between September and early October. Worth being clear about what’s solid here and what isn’t: the eleven point six billion in revenue is real and reported. The thirty trillion dollar figure is Anthropic’s own pitch to investors, not a forecast anyone outside the company has verified. Either way, if Claude is the tool your business runs on, this is the financial engine behind it, and it’s getting bigger fast. Source: The Wall Street Journal, reporting August 25th.
That growth showed up somewhere concrete the very next day. Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce, a plugin that lets salespeople query, update, and act on their live CRM data straight through Claude, without ever opening Salesforce itself. It ships with thirty seven prebuilt sales skills, things like meeting prep and pipeline review, live now with pilot customers. Salesforce raised its own revenue forecast that same day, and its stock jumped fourteen percent in after hours trading. It’s the same shift you’ve probably noticed across every AI tool this year: agents stop answering questions and start doing the actual work inside the software you already pay for. If you run a CRM, an email platform, or a scheduling tool, don’t be surprised if an agent version of it shows up on your next renewal call. Two changes landed on Google’s Local Services Ads this week, and they pull in opposite directions. Starting October 1st, a missed call during business hours that runs longer than twenty seconds counts as a billable lead, even if nobody at your business actually answers the phone. Follow up calls can get charged too. There’s one carve out: if your setup routes callers through a phone tree, the clock doesn’t start until they press a key. In plain terms, how you staff your phones is about to affect your ad bill directly, not just your close rate. Source: Search Engine Land, reporting August 25th.
The other Local Services Ads change is better news. Google grew its list of Reserve with Google booking partners from about twenty to more than five hundred, practically overnight. If your Google Business Profile already links to a booking partner, it’s now automatically live on your Local Services Ads too, no setup required, and those bookings flow straight into your lead reporting. Google’s own Ads Liaison, Ginny Marvin, confirmed the change directly. If your booking software couldn’t connect a month ago, it’s worth checking again this week, because it might just work now. Source: Google’s Ads Liaison on X, August 26th.
So here’s your one thing for today. If you run Local Services Ads, log into your dashboard this week: check who’s answering your phones during business hours, and check whether a booking partner just got auto-enabled under Profile and Budget settings.
