Welcome to the AI Industry Report, the daily brief built by AI, about AI, from the Agentic Marketing Academy. It’s Wednesday, August 5th. Four stories, no rumor watch, and a free tool that finally tells you whether AI knows your name, or just stumbled into you by accident. Let’s go.
Okay, this first one is the kind of thing that sounds small until you realize how big the question actually is. Microsoft Clarity, which is free, by the way, updated its AI Citations dashboard this week to split your AI visibility into two buckets: branded and non branded. Here’s what that actually means. A branded query is someone, or some AI system, asking about your business by name. A non branded query is broader, an AI system searching your category in general and happening to surface you along the way. Up until now, if ChatGPT or Copilot cited your business, you had basically no way to know which of those two things actually happened. Clarity fixes that. It labels each query, it gives you a Share of Authority score broken out by type, and you can filter the whole dashboard either way. Why does this matter so much? Because it tells you what to actually go work on. If your visibility is almost entirely non branded, that’s a sign your brand recognition needs work. If it’s mostly branded, you already have the name recognition, and the opportunity is in showing up for the generic category searches too. Get this, it’s free. Go check it.
Now, remember the story about Google folding Local Services Ads into its main Ads platform? We told you back on July 23 that it was coming in August. Well, August is here, and so is the migration. If you’re a plumber, an electrician, an HVAC company, or you’re in house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control, appliance repair, or moving, Google just started moving your account over. You’ll get a heads up email fourteen days before it happens, your pricing and your ad placement stay exactly the same, but here’s the part to actually act on. Your historical performance reports do not carry over automatically. Once you’re migrated, that old dashboard just redirects you to the new one, no more history. So if this is you, go download your reports today, before that notice lands in your inbox.
Snap dropped its Q2 earnings this week too, and buried in there is a number worth knowing if you run any ads on Snapchat. Advertisers using Snap’s AI powered Smart Campaign Solutions saw their cost per app install drop 8 percent, cost per purchase drop 18 percent, and purchase volume jump 128 percent, year over year. And Snap’s own CFO specifically called out small and medium sized businesses as a driver of the quarter. Honestly, that’s a rare thing, a platform putting real numbers behind its AI automation claims instead of just vibes.
Last one, quick. Google now lets any advertiser lock a required disclaimer into their Search ads, permanently, guaranteed to show. If you’re in a regulated field, legal, financial, real estate, health services, and you’ve ever worried an AI generated ad might quietly drop your required disclosure, this closes that gap. It’s free, it’s global, and it works inside AI Max campaigns.
So here’s your one thing for today. If you use Microsoft Clarity, or you’re willing to sign up for it, go check your branded versus non branded split before you plan your next piece of content.
